More than 1,000 artists were awarded grants, and we're featuring a selection of those projects this month on CBC Arts. Artists stepped up with audio plays, documentaries, virtual reality soundscapes, digitized poetry magazines and a lot more. The idea was for artists to re-think their work for online sharing, whether that meant digitizing an existing work or creating an entirely new one. In the spring, the Digital Originals initiative offered $5,000 micro-grants from the Canada Council. His latest tour saw him sell out 28 dates across Europe, some of which were captured in Moscow, Kiev, Milan, Berlin and Prague.This summer, CBC Arts teamed up with the Canada Council for the Arts to help artists create work and showcase it during the pandemic. Today, Night Lovell continues to release a stream of new sounds that slowly curate his musical identity, which has seen his entry into trap heard on tracks like ‘Still Cold’ and ‘Contraband’.įor the past few years Night Lovell has been travelling around the world performing across Canada, the USA and Europe, and finally it’s our turn. Lifted from both records, his videos for ‘Dark Night’, ‘Jamie’s Sin’ and ‘Fraud’ are stylistically linked through grainy, cultivated landscapes of his hometown of Ottawa, Canada. Concept Vague and Red Teenage Melody perfectly capture his singular and elusive approach to hip-hop.

With limited tickets remaining, Night Lovell will play debut shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne while on our shores, before one special headline performance in Auckland.Īt the age of 20, Night Lovell has already locked away two full length releases. The experimental hip-hop prodigy will now also head to Adelaide, performing at The Gov on Sunday 29 April.
